Yamanaka Kumiki Works
Kumiki Wooden Puzzles are based on wooden chiegi and chieita play equipments that were created in the mid-Edo Period (The Edo Period: 1603-1867). Kumiki Wooden Puzzles are made with the same technique that is used when building Japanese Shinto shrines, and Tsunetaro Yamanaka created the first kumiki wooden puzzles in around 1900. Only highly skilled craftsmen can create the complex puzzles. The fourth master, Shigeo Yamanaka, has continued the over 100-year tradition while creating completely new forms. Unique shapes and warmth add to the appeal of Yamanaka Kumiki wooden puzzles.
